چکیده
Twenty eight Norwegian patients with epilepsy (16 male and 12 female patients, aged 10-50) were examined. All had been treated with phenytoin for at least a year, seven of them in combination with carbamazepine, phenobarbitone, or clonazepam. Four patients suffered from primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures, and 24 suffered from partial seizures. None had febrile convulsions. The causes of the epilepsy were perinatal brain lesions (12 patients), head injury (two patients), genetic predisposition (two patients), and unknown (12 patients). The 28 healthy controls were matched for age, sex, race, and geographical location.' Titres of antibodies to several bacterial antigens' were measured by standard techniques. The results were considered to be positive when above the 98th percentile for a healthy Finnish population (see table).2 Serum IgA, IgG, and IgM

Background and purpose: Chlamydia trachomatis infection is one of the most prevalent bacterial sexually transmitted infection in most countries. This organism may stay in genital tract for long time and cause subtle yet progressive damage in fallopian tubes. In this study we evaluate the correlation between chlamydia antibodies and tubal and other factors of infertility. Materials and Meth...

OBJECTIVE To assess the prevalence of celiac disease (CD) among a group of epileptic patients attending the Epilepsy Clinics of two general hospitals in the city of Brasilia (DF), Brazil. METHOD Serum samples were collected from 255 epileptic patients (119 children, 136 adults) originating from Epilepsy Clinics, and from a control group composed by 4405 individuals (2034 children, 2371 adults...
متن کاملCampylobacterpyloridis in non-ulcer dyspepsia
Antibody titres to Campylobacter pyloridis in serum and gastric juice were estimated by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to whole organisms obtained from bacterial culture in 39 patients with non-ulcer dyspepsia. Whereas 20 of the 21 patients with chronic gastritis had gastric C pyloridis, 17 patients with no Cpyloridis had normal histology in the gastric antrum and body. Significan...
متن کاملSimultaneous Detection of IgA/IgG AntiTissue Transglutaminase/Deamidated Gliadin Peptides in Serodiagnosis of Celiac Disease
Background: Celiac disease is a common autoimmune disorder that is diagnosed based on clinical case identification, serological screening, and duodenal histology. However, the existence of mild clinical forms, such as seronegative cases with patchy atrophy and potential celiac disease, can make it difficult to determine a definitive diagnosis. The seronegative patients with celiac disease can i...
متن کاملAnti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibody titres correlate well with disease activity in children with Crohn's disease.
AIM The role of noninvasive biologic markers for disease activity is very important in children with Crohn's disease. The aim of this study was to assess an association between disease activity and quantitative serum anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibody (ASCA) titres. METHODS Anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibody immunoglobulin (Ig) A and immunoglobulin G titres, paediatric Crohn's disease...
